Just good friends

A friend told me about another friend who's ironically in a band called Friendship. Normally when people you know are in a band, you always fear the worst, but I not only like them, I love them. Comprising of two, they create a massive sound. Afrobeat twiddly guitars looped with heavy chords. So good. They're playing a few gigs round and about so check the myspace for more info.

Softly, softly

A friend sent me this song by Here We Go Magic and it's a beaut, so addictive. Don't know much about the band except they're another thing to come out of Brooklyn by this guy Luke Temple. Snice.

OMG...

...it's OMD. Can't stop listening to this track. I heart it.

Good cuppa

I went to see Screaming Tea Party last night and I was happily toe taping all the way through. If you haven't heard them before, the three piece play sort of noise punk juxtaposed with some sweet melodies. They're ace to watch too. A great night.

That's grand

The Brooklyn based, glorious duo that is Matt & Kim have just released their second album 'Grand' on Fader Label. Check it out. The first track 'daylight' has been kicking around for a bit, but it's still good for a listen. Poppy niceness. US tour is looking big, but no news of UK dates yet.

Down with my girls

All you need to know is that the new Animal Collective album 'Merriweather Post Pavilion' is out. It's pretty good. A little less interesting that other albums but good none-the-less. This song makes up for others on the album tenfold. I can't stop listening to it! Oh and they're playing these dates, so hook yourself up with some tickets...

22.03 - Bristol Trinity Centre
23.03 - Nottingham Rescue Rooms
24.03 - London The Forum
25.03 - Leeds TJ's Woodhouse Club
26.03 - Liverpool Static Gallery
27.03 - Dublin Tripod
28.03 - Belfast Stiff Kitten

Endin Bro'

Loving these lads Meursault from Edinburgh. Upbeat, folky, great voice and a nice little synth sideline. I've heard a couple of singles and they're both ace. Album came out in December '08 on a small independent label Songs, By Toad called 'Pissing On Bonfires/Kissing With Tongues'. I'm going to give it a listen. They're playing a couple of gigs daahn saahf too...

22.02 - Manchester Mushaboom

Here's a good song...

Imaginary friends

I saw a guy dancing by himself at the bus stop this morning. I reckon he was probably listening to Plugs, or it's more likely that he was listening to some shit techno or he was a bit mad. Anyway, the splinter group of Does It Offend You Yeah make the perfect blend of band and synth. I rate them, especially after seeing them get Barden's Boudoir moving the other night. Definitely looking forward to hearing more from these boys.
